The course of a workshop

Our cooking workshops generally follow the following schedule. Of course, changes are always possible; each workshop is tailored to the client's needs.

Our workshops last approximately four hours. This means a cooking workshop with Moederskeuken guarantees a wonderful evening out. Our workshops also take place in Amsterdam's finest cooking studios. Visit the cooking studios page for more information about the Amsterdam locations where our workshops are held. Upon arrival, participants will receive a welcome drink and a small snack to acclimatize.

Once everyone is inside and ready to begin, aprons and menus are handed out. The chef then gives an introduction explaining the evening's program. After the introduction, the real work can begin. The beginner cooking workshops begin with learning a few skills. You'll learn cutting techniques and how to use cooking equipment. You'll also cover cooking techniques like baking, roasting, and poaching. The advanced workshops begin with a similar introduction, but the level is higher. This is followed by an explanation of the products used in the workshop. This, of course, depends on the menu being prepared. The origins of the dishes being prepared are also covered.

Cooking workshop Amsterdam small group

Larger groups are divided into smaller groups so that two or three participants can prepare one or more delicious dishes. This is, of course, under the guidance of the professional chef. The goal is, of course, for the group to enjoy a delicious meal together. To achieve this, we work according to the mise en place principle. This means that the groups make the preparations that ensure that everyone can enjoy a meal together at the end. Timing is of course very important in this, and that is what the chef will pay close attention to during the workshop. While preparing the meal, participants can, of course, enjoy a refreshing drink. During the meal, our workshops also offer the option of choosing a wine pairing. With this arrangement, the chef will provide a delicious glass of wine that perfectly complements each course.
